AgriNext LAB Project:

Empowering youth through sustainable agritech education and innovation.

Technology-Driven Education for a Sustainable Agriculture in Latin America

AgriNext LAB Project: Invest in Rural Youth, AgriTech, and Sustainable Food Systems.

AgriNext LAB is a practical training and technology initiative created under the umbrella of the AGEARTH Colombia Semillero Program. It brings advanced education in AgriSTEAM and AgriTECH 4.0 / 5.0 to rural youth in Latin America through fully equipped mobile laboratories.

The project seeks to close the gap between rural youth and the cutting-edge technologies crucial for the future of agriculture—including the Internet of Things (IoT, data analysis, applied artificial intelligence (AI), precision agriculture, and sustainable digital solutions. By forming local innovators, AgriNext LAB aims to significantly improve the sustainability, productivity, profitability, and climate resilience of rural territories across the region.

The Problem We Address

Latin American agriculture faces three structural challenges:
  1. The rural education and technology gap most rural youth lack access to advanced technical training or digital infrastructure applied to agriculture.

  2. Climate vulnerability and low profitability without adequate technological tools, production systems are less efficient, more vulnerable to climate change, and unattractive to new generations.

  3. The gap in sustainable farming practices arises because sustainable techniques and technologies are often developed outside rural communities, limiting their adoption in the territories that need them most to protect natural resources, reduce environmental impact, and build resilient agricultural systems.

The result is a loss of young talent in the field and less sustainable food systems in the long term.

What is the long-term impact?
What are the indirect outcomes?
What are the direct outputs?

The program contributes to creating more resilient and sustainable food systems while nurturing a new generation of rural technological leaders. It plays a key role in reducing educational gaps in rural areas and fosters a stronger alignment between environmental sustainability and agricultural profitability, ensuring long-term benefits for both communities and the wider agricultural sector.

Over the course of the program, at least 300 youth will be trained and certified in advanced AgriTECH skills. Participants will develop a minimum of 30 practical, locally relevant technological solutions, applying their learning directly to real-world agricultural challenges. As a result, there will be a measurable increase in the technical and digital capabilities of all participants, empowering them to drive innovation and sustainability within their communities.
